This looks good thanks. For the CI, I added instructions in https://github.com/SiegeLord/RustGnuplot/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md about how to indicate intended example changes.

This is my attempt to use the
generate_datamacro from the color updates to simplify the box functions, by moving box width from a separate function into an option.CHANGED_OUTPUTS=example2_2.png,variable_color.png,variable_palette.png
