What happened?
When attempting to start a virtual machine, VirtualBox fails immediately with the following error dialog:
VirtualBox - Error In supR3HardNtChildPurify
supHardenedWinVerifyProcess failed with
VERR_SUP_VP_NT_QI_VIRTUAL_MEMORY_ERROR:
(rc=-5637)
Please try reinstalling VirtualBox.
where: supR3HardNtChildPurify what: 5
VERR_SUP_VP_NT_QI_VIRTUAL_MEMORY_ERROR (-5637) -
Process Verification Failure: Error query virtual memory information.
The VM does not start at all. The e
rror appears before the guest OS boot process begins.
Expected behavior
The virtual machine should start normally and proceed to boot from the attached ISO image.
How can we reproduce this?
- Install VirtualBox 7.0.x on Windows 11 host.
-
- Create a new virtual machine (Linux or Windows guest).
-
- Attach a valid ISO image.
- Click Start.
- The error appears immediately and VM execution is aborted.
This happens consistently across newly created VMs.
Did you upload all of your necessary log files, screenshots, etc.?
- Yes, I've uploaded all pertinent files to this issue.
