Description
I read some discussion about this argument where @JHRobotics blamed the lack of proper drivers to support XP.
But now I repeated a test, that I did years ago (and failed with a BSOD), I set the XP machine in Vbox 7.2.0 as VMSVGA.
Then I grabbed the VGA drivers from the VMware tools and I installed them in the VM. And it (kinda) worked.
No BSOD and the 3D test button is even not grayed out. Then the test fails but is a big jump over older versions that simply got a BSOD.
For the record the above is with V9 VGA, V10 doesn't BSOD either and doesn't hang the machine but lead to black screen.
Now I'm not a coder, but I think that really little is missing, some dll that "connects the dots" properly, given the VMware driver clearly works well in VMware, and VBox provides enough level of emulation to get Linux VMs working correctly.
So I'm curious to hear what @JHRobotics thinks about the above.
P.S. I have not yet tested Vbox 7.1.x and 7.0.x, but I guess there are a good chances that they works as well.
